Building better relationships, one dog at at time.

Our mission is to improve relationships between owners and their K9 companions in and around Pendleton, SC.  Too often owners focus on love and affection with their dog while neglecting structure and mental stimulation.  Just like children, if dogs aren’t offered an appropriate instruction manual for how to live in our domestic life, they’ll make poor decisions.  We educate you on the things you’re accidentally teaching your dog while helping your dog learn boundaries and limitations.  Setting clear expectations and then holding your dog accountable to achieve those expectations, makes owners better leaders in all aspects of their life.

Who We Are?

The opportunity to build a loving & trustworthy relationship

A respectful and trusting relationship between pets and owners is the foundation for calm, polite and attentive dogs.  We educate owners on how to set reasonable expectations for their companion and then how to hold them accountable for following through on those expectations.

Our pets are loyal companions who thrive when encouraged to reach their full potential. As professional educators, dog lovers and trainers with over 25 years of experience we are committed to creating better people and happier dogs.  We understand the challenges that are created when our pets don’t have an appropriate instruction manual for life with us…and much of that understanding comes from mistakes we’ve made with our own dogs.  Our approach reflects that.

From puppy selection all the way to fully trained best friends, we have you covered.

Letting your dogs sleep on the bed

Should you allow your dog to get on the couch, sleep in your bed or be on any furniture at all? This is a question that we get a lot.

How to Find the Right Dog for You

Bringing home a dog is a big deal.  You’re adding a new member to your family who will need time, attention, exercise, socialization and maintenance needs met.

Socializing Your Puppy

Not every dog is a Golden Retriever that is delighted whenever it meets new dogs or people.  Socializing your dog to other humans, other dogs, the environment and to experiences is very important.

I can honestly say I’ve never seen Basin so attentive and his emotions so under control after working with Andrea.

Better People,
Happier Dogs

Following a career as a College Professor, Andrea earned a coaching certificate and for almost a decade helped people clear the clutter from their head and become more inspired and successful.  As it turned out, many of her coaching clients also had unbalanced dogs.  Over and over again, Andrea observed that the more unbalanced her client was, the more unbalanced their dog was.  From this, her tribe of Better People, Happier Dogs was born in the Chicagoland area.  Following her dream, Andrea moved her business to Pendleton, SC, and is excited to bring her unique training to this new region.

Katie and Basin

"I adopted my dog Basin at 8 weeks old and over the last 4 years we’ve been through a lot together. He’s my best bud but it’s also been a rollercoaster of ups and downs with his reactivity, my lack of leash control and simple obedience when distracted.  I spent a lot of money on programs when we lived in Colorado but I still didn’t have much control with Basin at all. As soon as he became interested in something I was pulled all over the place and even pulled down a couple of times.  After recently moving back home to IL I knew I needed to get his reactivity under control.

A friend of my mother’s recommended Andrea and as soon as we began working together, Basin and I began creating a different relationship.  I can honestly say I’ve never seen Basin so attentive and his emotions so under control after working with Andrea. I have so much more confidence in him and myself with how to handle his reactivity. I can’t thank her enough for all of her help and continued support!"
